My sentiments exactly. I particularly like not only the hands forcing the smile, but the hearts on them. It's nothing like what I picture from the book, but it holds up both as a creature in its own right and as something that fits the story. The Queen of Hearts has a whole load of eccentric demands, so it's interesting that it's the hands with hearts that make the cat smile. It's again kind of a step away from what you'd expect, given that the Cheshire Cat causes trouble for the King and Queen towards the end of the book, but still a really nice touch.
I think many popular characters get drawn the same way over and over again because there's a general look that sticks closest to the book, but this shows that taking a step away from that can work just as well, if not better.
